Context
Learning to teach remotely in English language teaching is increasingly important in today's dynamic educational landscape. With the rapid rise of digital technologies and global events such as the COVID-19 pandemic, remote teaching has emerged as a vital method for ensuring continuity and access to quality education, regardless of geographical constraints. Remote learning can enable educators to reach a broader and more diverse student population, foster learner independence, and prepare students for a digital future by enhancing their technological and communication skills. Moreover, it provides flexibility in instruction and creates opportunities for collaborative learning among educators from different regions, enriching the overall language teaching process.
TELT's Role
TELT was engaged by British Council Argentina to edit a 12-hour MOOC (Massive open online course) reversioning existing British Council materials designed to be delivered through the British Council's EES LMS platform to provide online training on remote teaching skills to English teachers and teacher educators throughout the world.
Course Structure
The course is divided into three modules covering the following areas:
- Module 1: Understanding Remote Teaching
- Module 2: Planning and Adapting Materials
- Module 3: Managing Remote Learning
Further information about the course can be found on the British Council Teaching English website.
